Why is it that some of the most simple and oldest discoveries are the best? Well this can definitely be said about Spelt flour. It is one of the oldest grains known to man and one of the healthiest so it only makes sense that we should be eating more of it. But it's renewed popularity can't only be blamed on the nutritional side. It is quite simply delicious too. The slightly nutty flavour sets it aside from it's 'wheaty' competitor. But that's not all! It is naturally high in fibre, contains a lot more protein than regular wheat as well as other healthy stuff like simple and complex carbohydrates. At the Bread Shop we certainly won’t disappoint with our huge range of Spelt loaves, rolls, pastries and lunch time snacks.

Baked fresh on the premises of all our stores* that wholesome, bakery smell seeps through our doors, drawing in a huge 'spelt' following! There is a choice like no other such as the simple white spelt loaf in a basket to the dense, dark, and devilishly delicious wholemeal spelt, the rustic spelt loaf which is a combination of white and dark spelt flour and the country spelt, a perfect substitute for a chunky baguette! If it's just a snack then we won't disappoint. The Speltine is a great healthy snack on its own or warm with some
cheese. Or as a sweet snack there is the Apple Spelt Danish - yum!

On a 'non-spelt' note, here is just a quick run-down of some of our other delicious breads and snacks. Firstly, if you're a pizza lover, try our freshly baked snack-size pizza's with a choice of fresh toppings. Our sandwiches are all made on site each morning with natural, fresh ingredients and on a selection of healthy Bread Shop breads. We wouldn't be complete without our traditional German Pretzels, warm out the oven - a kiddie favourite! And finally choose from the Powergrain or 7-Seed loaves as a healthy kick-start each morning - every bite is packed full of healthy vitamins, minerals and fibre.
